The series is also responsible for the concept of a sakabato, a katana with the blade on the wrong edge, and a rurouni, a traveling swordsman. Responsible for creating the concept, or responsible for the modern popularisation and proliferation of the concept? Because I'm finding it hard to believe a manga/anime created these concepts, but that's just me. pigeonarmy, 23:31, 25 April 2008 (NZT)
- Well, the writer admitted that he made up both terms. As I remember, a ronin was a masterless samurai, and the term rurouni was invented to describe the main character, who isn't exactly a ronin. And I'm fairly certain that backwards katanas didn't exist until the manga came out. They're be rather impractical in real life, after all.--Adagio 21:13, 25 April 2008 (CDT)
