Salamandastron is the fortress of the badger lords of the Redwall series. It lies on the southwest coast of Mossflower, and consists of an elaborate tunnel and cavern system inside an extinct volcano. Usually a Badger Lord is in residence, along with a number of hare soldiers who make up the "Long Patrol" army, who defend the country from Vermin.
Mary Sues in the form of hares often show up at Salamandastron rather than Redwall Abbey. It's not unknown for them to turn all of the hares and badgers into Designated Misogynistic Bastards at once in order for them to "prove" that women make just as good soldiers as men, completely disregarding the fact that Dorothea Duckfontein Dillworthy, the very first hare to be appointed official General of the Long Patrol, was a female.
