I'll be working on making this more complete as time goes by, but here is the beginning.

Things to note about my reading prefences:

  • 1) I prefer to read Whump. Almost every fic I recommend will likely include some aspect of that.
  • 2) I prefer long stories. It is doubtful that any story I recommend will be under 5000 words. Many will be significantly over 100,000 words.

Check out the PPC Rec Center for more goodfic recommendations.

Burn NoticeEdit

Slipping Rated T

  • Writing Status: Complete
  • Warnings: Whump--serious injuries, blood, and medical procedures.
  • Summary: Serious Mike whump w/a cool angsty story for good measure. Mike/Fi ShipperyDoDah, lots o Sam, plus Madeline, Virg, NotSoDead Larry, &more. TY 2all who continue to list as "fave story." Please do also consider reviewing though this has been posted a while.
  • Why I like it: The characters were extremely in-character. The dialogue was pitch perfect. The author clearly either had a medical background or had done extensive research before attempting to write medical based fic. Bad Medicine in whump stories is the single most common complaint I have. The story was interesting. There was shipping, but with strong canon support that the shipping could go to proposal someday. Overall--good dialogue, good pacing, good characterization, and good research equals a very enjoyable read.

Stargate AtlantisEdit

The Flowers of the Field Rated K+

  • Writing Status: Complete
  • Warnings:
  • Summary: On the first day of spring, a young girl finds a badly injured man, chained to a dead man and caught in a trap
  • Why I Like It: This is a really good character piece, taking a spoiled brat and watching her change through a shared experience with one of the canon characters. It is another one where the viewpoint is not with the canons, but the story is all about the canons. Rather deep for such a short story.

On the Road to Come What May Rated T

  • Writing Status: Complete
  • Warnings: Some bad language
  • Note: This is a generally good author. Not all of them are on my favorites list, but none that I have read are bad.
  • Summary: It started with a strange vessel crashing down from the sky. Then three strangers appeared in a decaying city, willing to risk everything to rescue an injured, imprisoned friend. For those caught up in the adventures of these four, nothing will ever be the same again.
  • Why I like it: This story is interesting from beginning to end. It is told entirely from the view points of Original Characters, but is very true to canon. The canon characters are the main focus of the story and are in-character. My favorite part is that one of the viewpoint characters is a self-absorbed whiny teenage protagonist that has to deal with an in-character Rodney McKay. It. Is. Awesome.
