Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (sometimes shortened to Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind) is a Japanese animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Despite the fact that it was made before the formation of Studio Ghibli, the film is often considered to be part of the Ghibli canon, mostly thanks to the fact that it was one of the films that was dubbed in English by Disney when they began dubbing all of Miyazaki's films.
The film takes place in the far future, one in which the world has become so polluted it becomes impossible for humans to breathe the air, except in a few small places (the titular Valley of the Wind being one of them). The story concerns Nausicaä, a princess of the Valley of Wind who gets caught up in a huge adventure when her valley is invaded by the nation of Tolmekia. She finds out that they hope to unleash a superweapon on the fungus that has grown in the forests in an attempt to make the air breathable again. In her attempt to stop Tolmekia from unintentionally destroying her home, she sets out on a journey that will change the world.

Fanfiction for Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is exceedingly rare: as of the time of this post, the section for this film on fanfiction.net has only sixty-three submissions. Thus, it is difficult to figure out what trends tend to appear in bad fanfiction. However, as Nausicaä herself is sometimes considered a Canon Sue, trends in badfic would not be so difficult to trace given more research.
