'I think it's a nice beaver,' said Lucy.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, ch. 7: "A Day with the Beavers"

Mr. and Mrs. Beaver are Talking Beavers from the Chronicles of Narnia book The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. They are devoted to Aslan and become allies of the Pevensies. The Beavers are also known to be friends with Mr. Tumnus.

In CanonEdit

In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Mr. Beaver discovers the four Pevensie children after Mr. Tumnus' arrest. He leads them to his dam, where he and his wife shelter them from the White Witch's spies. The Beavers explain the prophecy of two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve coming to Narnia to defeat the White Witch, but by the end of the tale, Edmund has disappeared. The Beavers admit that they had felt suspicious about Edmund, as he had the look of someone affected by Jadis. The Beavers take Peter, Susan and Lucy to meet the Narnian army gathering at the Stone Table. Mr. Beaver later fights in the battle against Jadis' army.

The Beavers' dam on the Great River is the future site of the town of Beaversdam, where some of the kings under the Caspian line rule. Mr. and Mrs. Beaver are eventually reunited with the Pevensies in Aslan's Country in The Last Battle.

The Beavers are strong believers in Aslan, knowing with certainty that the Lion will one day return to Narnia and free it from the White Witch. Mr. Beaver in particular is very scornful of Jadis and her false claim to power. Mrs. Beaver is very cautious, which prevents her from acting quickly in an emergency.

In BadficEdit

The Beavers follow in Gimli's proud tradition of main characters who are frequently ignored by badficcers. When they appear, they usually repeat their lines from the book or the movies more or less verbatim. Be watchful for Beaver/Tumnus crackfics inspired by the Narnia parody in Epic Movie.
