Maim

To maim something is to injure it in a permanent and debilitating way. Usually we in the PPC kill rather than maim. Badficcers, particularly those investigated by the Disturbing Acts of Violence Department, will often maim characters for no apparent reason, or for a spurious reason. For example, the bit character Ithalond in "Celebrian" had his hands cut off.
