The T.V. series House, M.D. is a medical drama created by David Shore and Paul Attanasio. The show follows the unusual cases of Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) and his team of diagnosticians-in-training at the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey.
House[]
Dr. House is known for being sarcastic, rude, and addicted to Vicodin. All of this is due in part to chronic pain in his right leg caused by a blood clot leading to muscle death in his thigh. The dead muscle was subsequently removed (against House's wishes), and he never regained full use of the leg. He walks with a cane, and he goes through several of them over the course of the show.
However much pain House is actually in, however, it is universally agreed that he was an ass before the leg and he is an ass now. His only redeeming quality is his ability to solve the most bizarre medical mysteries to which humans can be victim. Well, there are also his big blue eyes and manly unshaven chin, and the witty metaphors, but really it's just the "saving lives" thing that keeps him on this side of human being. For some (read: fangirls), this is enough, but it must be noted that even his best friend, Dr. James Wilson, can't stand him at times.
Dr. House is known to be something of a homage to Sherlock Holmes.
First Team[]
- Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison)
- Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps)
- Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer)
This team lasts through seasons 1–3. Then House fires Chase and the other two quit. However, Chase and Cameron both still work at Princeton-Plainsboro, and Foreman eventually rejoins House's team.
Second Team[]
- Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley (Olivia Wilde)
- Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson)
- Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn)
After a grueling hiring procedure, House finally chooses these three from the fifty applicants. Thirteen and Taub remain on the team (more or less) through season 7, but Kutner was written out of the show toward the end of season 5. The in-show excuse for this is a big fat spoiler and will not be revealed here.
Foreman remains on the team after rejoining it in season 4. Cameron and Chase come and go.
Other Characters[]
- Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) - Dean of Medicine; House's boss (and Lust Object).
- Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) - Head of Oncology; House's best friend.
Missions in this Continuum[]
- "Daughter," Agents Ardo Nevrakis and Noir (DF) with Agent Nathan (DF)
