Before her retirement, Gurnirel was an agent in the Special Interdepartmental Elven Languages Unit. She is written by Zingenmir.

Agent Profile[]

Backstory[]

Gurnirel is a Noldorin Elf who arrived in HQ from the middle of the Second Age of Middle-earth. She was born in Valinor long before the First Age, while the Two Trees still stood. Together with her husband Glassindir and Naergondir, a close friend and later her agent partner in HQ, she went through the various tumultuous events of the First Age. In HQ time, she arrived and was recruited in 2013.

Prior to retirement, Gurnirel lived with Naergondir in RC 1500, also known as the Community Garden RC. It is reported to have quite a colorful history, even having been burnt down during the Reorganisation for an extensive contact high. Nowadays, however, it is a proper garden, with nary a weed in sight (but many, many plants). Among other flora, it has multiple trees, which one must navigate should one wish to walk through the RC.

Appearance[]

Gurnirel is very tall and light on her feet, as Elves tend to be. She is very much a bookverse Silmarillion Elf. Her hair is long and golden, the latter due to Vanyarin heritage. Because she has seen the light of the Two Trees in Valinor, her eyes are a bit shiny.

Apart from some early attempts at wearing black clothing to fit into HQ, Gurnirel favors shades of red, mostly dark these days. Her dress sense could be termed practical, so long as one's point of comparison is in fact elvish peacetime fashions.

Personality[]

Despite a name meaning "heart of tears", Gurnirel is quite capable of cheerful moments. Her temper flares a little more easily than Naergondir's, and she is more comfortable with a weapon in hand as well.

Relationships[]

With Naergondir[]

Gurnirel and her partner Naergondir are very close, having been friends for quite a lot of their lives. Apart from "osellë/otorno" (sworn sister/sworn brother), she calls him Meldaner (dear/beloved man) and he calls her Saileldë (wise Elf). (All of these are in Quenya, as opposed to "Gurnirel" and "Naergondir", which are Sindarin names).

With Christianne and Eledhwen[]

Gurnirel used to work with Christianne and Eledhwen, soon after recruitment. Christianne calls her "Posh Spice", to go with her nickname of "David Beckham" for Naergondir.
