Arare Usuasagi (薄浅(うすあさ)()(あられ) Usuasagi Arare) is an HQ civilian and trainee. He is written by KnShirayuki.

Profile[]

Appearance & Physical Characteristics[]

Arare is a yukinbo who requires spiritual energy drawn from human fear of him to perform cold-based magic and keep himself cold. If he runs low on energy, he takes on a cursed form, which resembles a round rabbit with white fur and blue eyes. If his energy is sufficient, he reverts to his true form, which resembles a handsome humanoid man with wavy light blue hair, blue eyes and wearing white and blue clothes. Arare in his true form is said to be more handsome than Agent Kaguya.[1]

Personality[]

Arare is very arrogant and quick to anger. He especially disdains humans, believing that they're inferior and don't fear nature and supernatural forces like they're supposed to. This is because his species derives powers from human fear of them, and they're under threat of extinction due to humans' diminishing fear of natural threats and the supernatural. Despite his arrogance, he is easily terrified by wildly unfamiliar badfic environments; he appears more comfortable in continua with a Japanese setting.

He enjoys being backhanded and can learn a great amount of information about a person simply by receiving a backhanded slap from them.

Background[]

Arare was born to father Tsurara 氷柱 and has a younger brother named Nadare 雪崩.[2] After his father's sudden death, Arare took on his post of clan head. As his kind is under threat of extinction due to humans' diminishing fear of them, he has joined the PPC to look for ways for yukinbo to be scary to humans again. He mainly aims to join the Seven Wonders of PPC HQ, a group of six yōkai individuals who are purportedly feared for their powers.

Appearances[]

See Four Demonly Kings entries labeled "Arare arc".

Curse of the Were-Snow-Rabbit[]

This is a mini-spin-off set shortly after Four Demonly Kings' Arare arc (episodes 55 to 60), which centers on Arare and gives more details on his life in the HQ.

Trivia[]

  • Arare 霰 means "graupel" (a smaller, softer type of hail). Usuasagi 薄浅葱 is a pale shade of turquoise and is phonetically similar to usagi (rabbit).
